Finnish Pancakes & A Pelicans Peli

On Friday when I got home from school my host mom taught me how to make Finnish-style pancakes.
They are really easy to make, all you need is flour, milk, eggs, and a bit of salt. First, you start off by cracking three eggs and then mixing them around in a bowl. Next, you add in 8dl of water and then several dl of wheat flour and mix it around. Once it has been mixed, let it stand for about 10 minutes and then pour it into a pan and place it in the oven to cook.
After a half an hour of cook time, the pancake is done. It literally is one giant cake like bread piece that you then cut into little squares to make it pancakes.
They are very, very easy to make.
Most pancakes are eaten as dessert with things like ice cream and strawberry jam. They can also be used as bread too, and I'm sure you could could put maple syrup on them too. They are quite tasty, and not as fluffy/thick in a dry sort of way as ours are back in America.
Saturday was a national holiday here, for All Saints Day. I decided to meet up with my friend Georgia and her host parents and go to a craft fair, and then to a Pelicans hockey game (peli).
Since it was a holiday, nothing was open other than a few places to eat, so we decided to just walk up to the arena after the craft show. There are a lot of handycrafts here in general, so I saw a lot of nice ceramic pieces, woodcrafts, and textiles. Also some nice prints and so forth.
We got to the game over an hour early which meant we got to get a good standing spot. Then we got some coffee and waited for the game to begin. There were people raising money for Nenä Paiva or Nose Day, so I took a picture of one of the signs since I donated a couple euros. I think it has to do with kids and preventing sickness, but I really don't know for sure.
The Pelicans were taking on HPK from Hämeenlinna. It is hard to describe the game, because it was pretty slow and boring, but then very much alive with action too.
Players on both teams looked asleep with the exception of the goalie from Hämeenlinna. It was a surprise that the Pelicans did make silly errors, like missing passes and losing the puck easily, because although they are just about last in the league right now, they had beat the leaders of the league the night before. Perhaps they were tired from pulling the upset.
In the third and final period, all of the scoring started to come. In fact, the Pelicans were actually leading 2 - 1 at one point, before being scored on a few seconds later.
There weren't many players sent to the box, but after almost every play down at HPK's goal, there was someone trying to start a fight on the other team. It was just uneccessary and the crowd yelled a lot more in protest too.
In the end, the game ended up being exciting, but it took quite awhile to get to that point. Unfortunately, the Pelicans just didn't have enough time to put one more into the net, so we ended up losing. Go Pelicans!
